I'm back! I'm going to try and use this more frequently as it's a great opportunity to capture thoughts.......etc. Well, we are living the good life here in Northern Minnesota. Today the snow is gently falling and it sounds like we may get a good amount. I've been knitting Chewy (the old man cocker) a dog coat as I took him in for a haircut the other day and he's cold here up north!
I've been busy knocking off knitting projects too for Christmas....those will be posed on Ravelry.
I suppose our biggest news is we sold our house down south. It's been on the market almost a year, and that's been a painful year, but hopefully, God willing and the creek don't rise, it will be all wrapped up on Dec 20. My oh my what a wonderful day.

Raggi time!
Oh my, I have a new favorite yarn. It is called "Raggi" and is made by Jarbo Garn. It's a swedish yarn, and is very hard to find locally so I'm snatching up all the skeins I can find! It's a worsted weight sock yarn and comes in beautiful colorways. I've made 3 pairs so far. They knit up so quick! I'll post some pics when I get them done.

Grace
I think I'm finally beginning to understand what grace is.....grace is all those little things that just fall into place in life. I think when I experience grace it is God showing his favor. It can be something as little as receiving a smile from a stranger when I need it the most, to everything falling into place when faced with an unsurmountable tasks. When I experience grace, I feel gratitude. It is hard to experience grace and the resulting gratitude without feeling content and positive.
I wonder what the opposite of grace is, or if there even is an opposite. I think perhaps we can find grace in everything, even something that is apparently bad news or negative on first glance. For instance, when I recently broke my foot I experienced the grace of friendship and good will of those who took care of me.

Day 10
Well it's been 10 days and 1 1/2 pairs of socks since the foot incident. Is there any irony that I declared this the year of the sock and promptly broke my foot....I think not.
I've been home alone for a few days and I hate to admit it but there's nothing finer. I've been tempted to go out, but I just sit down until that urge passes :) that was one of my mother's favorite lines, I believe she used it when referring to the urge to clean.
I'm not sure why I enjoy solitude so much. When I look back on my life the best memories involve solitude. I wonder if it's a trait I inheritied from my mother......when she was in public, she was "on stage" and that is a tough thing maintain. I wonder if I will ever learn that when I'm in public I don't have to always be "on stage". Something to contemplate
Well, it's about three weeks and NO lookers at the house. To be quite honest I'm glad none came this weekend, it would have been a real trick to grab 4 anmials with the foot issue and drive around when it's below zero.....but I would have willingly done it as my biggest worry is selling this house.
Back to knitting.....I'm working on a pair for Lindsy for her birthday, they are out of Mountain Colors Bearfoot and just plain beautiful yarn. I resisted the temptation to order more speculation yarn this weekend, althought I did get some to complete the mexican socks. Still on track w/resolution.
This week I'm off to the northcounty for work and will be there until who knows when....maybe even 2 weeks if I'm lucky.

Broken again
My oh my, they say lightening doesn't strike twice, but last Friday I broke my same foot, in the same place, by missing the same step on our staircase. (*()_*%^%^&*^W#$ is all I can say. I think this break is worse than last time, at least it's hurting pretty bad right now. A dear friend brought over breakfast the next morning that was absolutely wonderful. I've been working on a more complicated pair of socks (lace pattern) to get my mind off things. It's freaking freezing here, the high was below zero today, so I guess if it was going to happen, the timing is o.k.
I learned a new trick with knitting that's made my knitting look much better, and also seems to tighten up my gauge....I'm a pick knitter and have always hated purling, I think because the tension is hard to regulate. Well, I've found that if I wind the yarn twice around my finger I can maintain an even tension, and purling doesn't seem so bad - either that or compared to a broken foot, purling is a walk in the park!

long time, no blog
My goodness this "sign on w/Google password" is a lifesaver for blogging......it's the only way I can find my blog! Silly me.
Well, it's been a whirlwind around here, since last I wrote we've cleaned the house top to bottom, decluttered and listed the house for sale. I've prayer that the Good Lord help me identify everything I can do to so we are out of the house by June 1 and I've worked my fingers to the bone. The listing price is good, I think, but the market is slow....time will tell.
Well, the year of the sock knitting continues. I've completed 5 pairs since the first of the year. One yarn I've used is a disappointment as I burn through the bottom of the socks really quickly. I bought lots of that yarn, so I think I'll exchange it for something sturdier. I'm also knitting one mini sock out of all the leftover yarn and I think I'll hang them on the Christmas tree next year. They are nice reminders of the socks I knitted.
Today I feel very grateful..........I am grateful for:
My job
Getting well into a major work project early
House is up for sale and CLEAN
Lots of stuff is moved to the cabin
Things are on track for Tommy getting into college
I'm knitting socks!
